St. Papandreou: SingularLogic’s goals for the “next day.”
Interview conducted by Stefanos Kotzamanis for euro2day.gr
SingularLogic's General Manager explains its ambitious goals to Euro2day.gr. Delivering technology that delivers real value, a holistic approach to customers, and the landmark elections project.
SingularLogic — now a member of the Space Hellas Group — is arguably the oldest software house in Greece, with a history spanning more than forty years and a particularly active role in the technological upgrade of businesses and organizations across the country. Stelios Papandreou, General Manager of SingularLogic, answers Euro2day.gr’s questions about the company’s goals and future growth areas. He highlights two main points: focusing on delivering “technology with value” in a fast-changing environment and taking a holistic approach to customers. Stelios Papandreou also talks about key issues facing the Greek IT market, including whether companies can meet rising demand, the new skills managers need, and the importance of developing new leaders. Finally, he explains the demanding project of collecting and transmitting election results, which SingularLogic has been delivering continuously since 1981, noting that in such a project, everything must operate flawlessly, with complete transparency and respect for the institutional framework. “That is why we approach this project with preparation, methodical planning, and absolute commitment to the proper execution of the process,” concludes Stelios Papandreou.
Mr. Papandreou, SingularLogic is arguably the oldest “software house” in Greece. Where does it stand today, and what are its future goals?
“SingularLogic has a long and successful track record in the IT sector, with a history exceeding forty years. From the very beginning to this day, it has played a decisive role in the technological upgrading of Greek businesses and organizations, both in the private and public sectors. What has consistently defined us, in my view, is our deep expertise, our reliability in partnerships, and our ability to deliver solutions truly tailored to our customers’ needs.
Today, we are a modern software integrator with highly skilled executives and experienced teams in large-scale, highly complex projects across a broad range of business sectors. Our philosophy can be summarized as follows: technology must tangibly enable our customers’ success and remain firmly connected to the real needs of business, through a clear ‘technology for business’ approach. At the same time, our integration into the Space Hellas Group over the past few years has given us an additional significant advantage: the ability to combine our software expertise with the Group's broader technological capabilities and ecosystem. This allows us to offer our customers a holistic approach, delivering integrated, reliable, and modern technological solutions.
Looking ahead, our goal is clear: to continue earning our customers’ trust through a truly holistic approach, so that they choose us as strategic partners in their growth.”
In which market sectors does SingularLogic aim to grow?
“SingularLogic operates across a broad spectrum of the market and aims to strengthen its presence in new areas of digital transformation, while continuously evolving its services. We build on international technologies, in-house software development, and the high level of expertise of our people. We focus equally on the private and public sectors.
Traditionally, we provide enterprise software solutions and services to modernize, optimize, and automate critical business processes. In recent years, we have expanded this foundation with more specialized services and solutions for larger, more complex organizations, where upgrading digital maturity is essential.
In the public sector, where we have extensive experience and a significant client base, our goal is to continue contributing to the modernization of citizen services through solutions that enhance transparency, efficiency, and operational continuity. Our strategy is driven by the real needs of customers and the market, leveraging technological developments and our deep business experience in both the private and public sectors. At the same time, our R&D function develops new solutions and strengthens services, products, and projects, keeping us at the forefront of innovation.
Moreover, as a member of the Space Hellas Group, we can offer truly holistic IT solutions. We combine our software expertise with the Group’s infrastructure, experience, and technologies to cover end-to-end organizational needs — from applications and business platforms to infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, and managed services. In short, our vision is to be the partner that can view a customer’s organization holistically, understand its real business needs, and deliver technology and solutions that help it move forward confidently into the digital era.”
What do you consider to be your competitive advantage?
Our ‘hidden’ competitive advantage is not a specific product or a technology patent. It is the way we work as an organization. SingularLogic has managed to combine two things that rarely go together: over 40 years of deep experience in critical infrastructures, especially large-scale projects, and a modern, agile, and collaborative culture we have built in recent years.
This means that when we undertake a project, we do not start from scratch. We understand the particularities of the Greek market, the needs of businesses and the public sector, and above all, how to deliver reliable solutions in demanding environments.
At the same time, our team has learned to keep evolving, adopt new technologies, listen to customers, and turn technology into real value. Simply put, our competitive advantage is our ability to move quickly without losing reliability. In a fast-changing market, this balance is crucial.”
Over the next 3–5 years, what are SingularLogic’s three strategic priorities?
Our priority is to further strengthen our role as a high-expertise Software Integrator. This means investing in advanced platforms, new implementation methodologies, and specialized teams that can develop new services and deliver complete solutions.
Our second priority is to deepen our collaboration with the Space Hellas Group. We want to make the most of our combined strengths in infrastructure, security, networking, and managed services to deliver complete solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
It is just as important for us to invest in our people and create a work environment that develops talent and supports the next generation of technology leaders.”
How prepared are Greek companies to cope with the significantly increased demand of recent years?
“In recent years, demand for IT services and solutions has increased substantially, placing Greek companies in an environment of both major challenges and significant opportunities. On the one hand, many Greek companies have made meaningful progress. They have invested in new technologies, automation, modern software development tools, and continuous training for their people. They have strengthened their teams, and many have proven they can deliver complex, large-scale projects — something that was not common in the Greek market a few years ago.
However, this sharp rise in demand also puts pressure on. It is hard to find specialized professionals and bring them on board quickly. Competition for talent is strong and often slows the pace of company growth.
Overall, companies’ readiness varies widely depending on their size, strategy, and ability to attract and retain skilled professionals. Still, the overall picture is positive. The sector has grown stronger and demonstrated its ability to meet high demand. Continued investment in expertise and people is needed for Greek IT companies to stay competitive as the landscape changes quickly. I also want to point out that both SingularLogic and the Space Hellas Group are known for ‘developing talent,’ which is well recognized in the market.”
You have held key positions in the IT sector. What challenges does an executive like yourself face today?
“Having served the IT sector for more than 30 years, I can say that today’s challenges are more complex and multidimensional, evolving at a much faster pace than in the past. There is a greater need than ever to balance business and technology. Technology advances rapidly, and an executive must not only keep pace with it but also evaluate it strategically: which technologies generate real value, which support growth objectives for both the company and the customer, and how they can be implemented securely and reliably.
In our field, expertise alone is never enough without adaptability, sound judgment, and insight into the business outcome that must be delivered. In a constantly changing environment, the real challenge is not simply managing teams, but building them, inspiring them, and giving them room to grow. At SingularLogic, we have people with knowledge and creativity, and leadership means a daily commitment to culture and consistency.
Complex projects require strategic thinking, clear coordination mechanisms, and the ability to anticipate potential issues. Management’s responsibility is not to intervene in every project, but to shape an organization that can operate methodically and proactively, with structured processes, mature teams, and stable yet flexible governance mechanisms, ensuring on-time, successful project delivery aligned with customer expectations. Maintaining reliability is a key responsibility in a sector where everything moves fast, and expectations are high. SingularLogic builds relationships of trust, and it is my responsibility to strengthen them every day.”
Since 1981, SingularLogic has delivered the process of collecting and transmitting election results. How easy or difficult is this task?
“The collection and transmission of election results is a project of exceptionally high institutional importance, which SingularLogic has delivered continuously since 1981. It is a project that combines significant organizational and technical complexity and requires extensive preparation, full readiness, precision, and absolute consistency.
At an organizational level, the challenge lies in coordinating a very large number of processes that must operate simultaneously and in perfect alignment. Every aspect—from preparing systems and infrastructure, to coordinating with stakeholders, and training participants—must be meticulously organized and function flawlessly, since even the smallest detail is critical.
Anyone who considers elections a stable and predictable process should reflect on two factors: first, that the available time for preparation and implementation may be limited to as little as 30 days; and second, that frequent changes to the electoral system and/or different types of elections (National, European, Local, Postal, etc.) introduce variations that are anything but predictable.
At a technical level, the process requires high-availability infrastructure and specialized applications capable of handling large volumes of incoming data in real time, while also handling high concurrent demand from citizens, institutions, and media. Systems must process result flows quickly and accurately, remain fully operational even under heavy load, and ensure that the information provided is valid, reliable, and immediately available.
Equally critical is data security and cybersecurity. The solution is designed and implemented to the strictest security standards at every stage, from initial collection to final transmission of results, ensuring complete protection and absolute reliability. Because this project is so critical, SingularLogic assumes a level of responsibility that matches its significance at every stage of the process. Every aspect must function perfectly, with complete transparency and respect for the institutional framework. That’s why we approach the project with careful preparation, methodical planning, and unwavering commitment to excellence at every step.
